Generation Hex

The first finished(ish) pages of a graphic novella currently in progress. Authored and illustrated by me, the story is set in Kandy, Sri Lanka, in the 90’s, and follows a group of 2nd generation immigrant cousins. It was inspired by my own experience as an immigrant teenager unable to have the same sense of family that my parents had with their own cousins growing up. The story tackles questions of identity and belonging.

Initial Approach

The initial ideation brought about the result of a world building course by illustrator Ben Newman (which you can check out here). A lot of these characters were taken forward into that story, though sadly the white sheet ghost didn’t make the cut!
